STATE OF THE UNION

The annual State of the Union (SOTU) address is not a mandatory rite presented by our presidents, but it is a tradition that dates back to George Washington.   Until 1913, presidents fulfilled the mandate to report to Congress on the state of the nation in written form.  President Woodrow Wilson began presenting this information in person to Congress, and it has become an annual political staple with the advent of radio and television.  Normally, these addresses are scheduled in January and early February.   In fact, the last three SOTU talks presented by Donald Trump took place between January 30 and February 5.    With only one exception, Barrack Obama’s eight addresses occurred between January 12 and February 12.  So here we are at the end of February, and not only have we not heard a SOTU address, but none has been scheduled.  I just wonder how hard it is to speak from a teleprompter to the American public for an hour and a half.     Just wondering !  Are things that bad ?   Are the lights too bright ?                         WHAT THE HECK !
